Full Description:
In Livermore, an elementary school carnival has burst out of its traditional rainy-season, indoor home, to become a large-scale warm-weather festival to be enjoyed by families from throughout the Bay Area.
Saturday, October 4 marks the debut of “The Livermore Family Carnival & Fall Festival,” to be held on the grounds of Arroyo Seco Elementary School at 5280 Irene Way. The new celebration, which takes place from noon until 4pm, promises continuous live entertainment, craft activities, face painting, food, a hay bale maze, customized child I.D. kits, a gift basket raffle, and over twenty carnival games where there will be no losers.
“This is about celebrating family and community in the Bay Area,” says festival organizer Debbie Campbell. “Times have been tough for schools throughout the state, and often for families as well. This family festival offers a fun, low-cost recreational event, and at the same time raises funds for school programs without using children to sell product. Arroyo Seco is very happy to be hosting this festival at this time.”
Local businesses and community service groups are also getting behind the event; festival visitors will be able to explore a shopping bazaar featuring products including personalized gift items, educational toys, household items and health & beauty aids. A used media sale for the Arroyo Seco Library will offer books, video, LPs and software for all ages at just fifty cents an item.
“Fun foods” will be the order of the day, with sales of kid favorites such as pizza, hot dogs, ICEEs, Dreyer’s ice cream and freshly-spun cotton candy. The dining area faces the main stage, presenting performances by Staci Fuller & Friends Polynesian Dance, Livermore Academy of Performing Arts, Tiffany’s Dance Academy, and Livermore Gymnastic Center.
Admission to The Livermore Family Carnival & Fall Festival is free, and there is no charge for parking. Game and raffle ticket prices vary based on quantity purchased; the carnival has been designed so that every player may be a prizewinner. Attendees are being notified that the celebration is one for the entire family, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. More information on the event can be found at the Arroyo Seco Elementary School website, http://www.arroyosecoschool.org, or by emailing asbooksale@yahoo.com.
