Through a series of free presentations this summer and through its website (www.livermorons.com), Livermorons kNOw more aims to be the premier organization for students & parents to learn about all aspects of college life.
Lifelong Livermore residents and current college students Kevin F. Adler and Jamie Tacker recently launched Livermorons kNOw more, an organization to increase the level of college awareness and readiness among high school students and their parents, through its free presentations this summer and its website, www.livermorons.com.
Livermorons kNOw more seeks to overcome a pressing challenge in our community: high school students are all-too-often unaware of what to expect in college. “Animal House and Old School should not be a student’s sole source of information regarding university life,” said co-director Tacker, a film student at San Francisco State.
To achieve its goal, Livermorons kNOw more will conduct a series of free presentations this summer that are entertaining, informative, and real – “a College 101-type crash course on all aspects of college life” as described by founder and co-director Adler, who graduated from Occidental College in May and will pursue a master’s degree at the University of Cambridge this fall.
The presentations will highlight four major aspects of college life: transitions, living, friends / relationships, and academics. Issues to be covered include financial aid, books, dating, and classes.
“By attending one of our presentations, we are confident that all attendees will gain a more comprehensive perspective on what college life is like, and thus make better decisions on what type of college experience they personally desire,” said Adler.
The presentations are free and open to the public. Presentations are currently scheduled for 7pm on July 26th at the Livermore PD Community Room, 1110 South Livermore Avenue; presentations will resume in mid-August at the Community Center.
