2. Please Don't Steal Our Field
I wanted to let you know there's now an image to go with our grass-roots campaign to save our historic downtown ballpark. The shirts, hats and posters are all set up at cost. The Artist who created the image believed, as you hopefully do that the kids of this community deserve to keep the few fields they have and appreciates the history of this unique town. She has donated her time and talent. The girl in the image is one of our own, playing both in Livermore Girls Softball and Livermore Little League.
As you are hopefully aware by now, there's already a serious shortage of ball fields for the children of our community. Now the LARPD is on the verge of commiting to the elimination of the ballfield on the corner of 7th and G Streets. Many neighbors of the park would like to replace the field with an expanded tot lot and bocce ball courts. LARPD has set aside $800,000 to redesign this park - the LARPD is leaning towards the design that completely does away with the ballfield.

3. Save the Historic Downtown BallPark
The field at the corner of 7th and G was created in part by money from the WPA project back in 1939. Prior to that time, the block of land that the field sits on played in important role not just in Livermore history but of California history. Few people know the very first Unified School District in the state was in Livermore way back in 1889 - over 117 years ago! Funds derived from unification enabled the local citizens to construct a high school building at the corner of 7th and G in 1894.

4. But we don't use that field anyway!
If you don't use that field to play or practice on, you must realize that many teams of kids do. Please take the time to consider how a single field closure will impact your team when yet again too many kids and teams need to share too few fields.
The Livermore Girls Softball Association is predicting that 200 or more girls will be turned away this next year or the year after (depending on when the closure happens) if we lose this additional field.

5. So what can I do?
SHOW UP to the LARPD meeting - WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 8th, 7pm at the Robert Livermore Community Center. It's important for the LARPD board to see that you are in support of keeping the historic ballpark exactly where it is. Please wear a uniform if you have one, or get a shirt off the attached website to show your support for the youth of Livermore. Also you can buy a poster print and put it up in your window or any busy intersection. Time is short and your participation is so greatly needed to save this field.
